Master of Accountancy

Five years of formal training is the emerging standard for education in professional accounting. The Master of Accounting program admits students with undergraduate business degrees or the equivalent from accredited schools. This one-year program custom designs a curriculum for each student to ensure breadth in business and an appropriate specialization in accounting. For more information and an application, contact the Graduate Admissions Office at (504) 865-5410 or (800) 223-5402.

Applicants must either hold a bachelor's degree or expect to receive a bachelor's degree before they commence the MACCT program. Applicants are expected to have completed prerequisite courses in financial accounting principles, managerial/cost accounting, and intermediate accounting. An undergraduate degree in accounting is not a prerequisite for the program. MACCT applicants use the graduate application to the Freeman School.  THE GMAT IS REQUIRED OF ALL APPLICANTS TO BUSINESS GRADUATE PROGRAMS

Students completing the MACCT program would be qualified for advanced careers in accounting, consulting, or continued graduate study.
