Master of Business Administration

Your first semester at Tulane's world-class MBA program begins with a series of skill-building activities designed to prepare you for the challenges of the MBA program. An orientation module provides an opportunity to meet classmates from around the world and define leadership and management in Freeman terms -- a definition recognized internationally.

Two unique experiences await you at Tulane.  First, a global leadership series enables you to see international business as a Tulane MBA graduate.  In the first semester, Global Leadership focuses on the U.S. perspective of global business by examining the world as it relates to the U.S. and companies, products and policies here.  Tulane's unique position at the U.S.'s largest port and as home to the first World Trade Center -- provides the context for global exploration.  In the following semsters, you will take this perspective to the world.  Utilizing Tulane's ties, and Freeman's international opportunities, the Freeman MBA program continues the Global Leadership series with programs and people focused on international operations.

The second experience waiting at Tulane is a unique practice of management series.  This series, throughout the first and second year, focuses on the practical application of business skills.  Working with your team and with real businesses clients, the series builds skills and expereince in management, leadership, and practicality.  It's not just theory - it is reality.

Knowledge core courses are delivered in intensive seven-week sessions to provide hard-hitting interactive instruction in the breadth of business issues.   These courses are focused on the skills you will need to develop relationships and integrated business decisions.  You'll turn your laptop computer from a web-surfing, e-mail tool to a laser-guided business information system. Throughout the program, you will explore personal and professional development through workshops and a speaker series focused on individual career prospects.

Tulane's classes are delivered to maximize your interaction with your peers and the faculty.  Classes meet in morning and afternoon sessions, Monday through Thursday, for all first-year MBAs. Lab sessions offer an opportunity to focus on individual and team issues. Fridays are reserved for other special programs. The structure of the program allows you to develop close relationships with your classmates and faculty.

Career exploration and your goals define elective selection. Electives taken in the first year provide greater depth in a career-specific area prior to the summer.  This elective flexibility early in the program allows you to contribute more in the summer internship. In turn, employers obtain more value from you as a summer intern. Summer abroad programs further enhance career-building skills through international exploration and exposure. In your second year, electives continue to develop career-specific knowledge. Elective courses are offered in seven-week (1.5 credit-hour) sessions as well as in the semester long (3 credit-hour) format. This flexibility enables faculty to cover topics based on content and sequence of courses. Elective courses at Freeman strengthen the functional areas and deepen the understanding of the multidimensional environment in which organizations operate.

Dynamic, interactive, flexible; all attributes of an innovative curriculum focused on your career goals as a Freeman student.
