The Freeman School is committed to making financial aid available to qualified students in the form of merit-based fellowship awards, need-based federal assistance, private loans, and/or assistantships.   A financial Aid counselor is available to discuss your financial preparation for the time your will be enrolled, we encourage every graduate student to understand fully their options and how funds are disbursed.

Fellowships
All full-time candidates are automatically considered for fellowships at the time of admission and notified of any award in their admission letter. These awards are made in recognition of academic merit, professional experience, and/or leadership achievements. Students receiving fellowship support are expected to comply with the terms of the award stipulated in the letter of admission.

Joint-degree students receive fellowships under varying conditions which are specified in the letter of admission. Contact the Office of Admissions for clarification.

For Full-time MBA students, awards are payable over four principal semesters, with the assumption that a student will take a normally-matriculating courseload leading to completion of the degree (normally 15 hours per semester).  Tuition awards do not cover course overloads.  Students must maintain grade point average (GPA) and a minimum number of credit hourse in each semester.  Other terms and conditions may apply to your individual fellowship.

Assistantships
Whether or not you are approved for Federal Work-Study, you are eligible to work for a faculty or staff member as a teaching, research, or administrative assistant to gain valuable experience and to supplement your income while in school. Last year, approximately 50% of all full-time MBAs held assistantship positions. Students usually work 10-20 hours per week, earning $6.00 per hour.

A separate application for assistantships is not required. Assistantships can only be arranged by the student after arrival on campus. Contact faculty and staff in your area of interest directly or check postings on the TV monitors in Goldring/Woldenberg Hall. International students must have a social security number to work on campus. All students must complete the necessary forms (see Zina Harris in room 460) to be placed on the payroll. For more information, call (504) 865-5406 or e-mail Zina Harris at zharris@tulane.edu.

Billing
A unique feature of Tulane University's registration process is that students are not required to pay tuition and fees at registration. Rather, students with outstanding balances receive monthly bills reflecting the amount due. The outstanding balance begins to accrue interest after the last business day of the following month. Students whose accounts have not been paid in full are not permitted to participate in early registration for the next semester.

For students who are receiving fellowship support, the appropriate funds are credited to your university account two to four weeks following registration. Problems resulting from any delay in crediting your award should be reported to Stephen Estrada at sestrada@tulane.edu .

Costs
For the 2006-07 academic year, the budget for a full-time, single MBA student is:
Tuition $1119 per credit hour
University fee $74 per credit hour
Global Module fee $3250
Health Center fee $436
Student Activity $360
Health Insurance $1883
Notebook Computer $1700
Textbooks $1500
Room and Board  $10600
Transportation  $1930
Estimated Budget   $58819

Costs are adjusted annually to reflect the rate of inflation and are consistent with federal guidelines.

For Notebook requirements, please visit Computer Specs.

Federal Assistance
Federal programs consist of a package of loans and campus employment as determined by federal eligibility criteria. Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents and be enrolled at least half-time (six credits).

To apply, students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Because the process is lengthy, the FAFSA should be submitted as early as possible in the admission process. Online applications may be completed at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.

After receiving the processed FAFSA, the Office of Financial Aid will determine if you qualify for the Federal Stafford Loan, Federal Perkins Loan, and/or Federal Work-Study Program. This link is to the Office of Financial Aid graduate student page: http://www.tulane.edu/~finaid/grad_aid.html. A PDF copy of the Tulane financial aid sourcebook is available through this link.

Questions concerning need-based financial aid awards or loan application processing should be directed to Stephen Estrada at sestrada@tulane.edu .

Financial Aid Entrance Interviews
All first-time Stafford Loan borrowers are required by law to complete an “entrance interview” prior to disbursement of their loan. You may complete this requirement online through the Office of Financial Aid’s web site (http://tulane.edu/~finaid/enter.shtml) or in person.

Private Loans
Privately insured loans, such as Tuition Loan Program (TLP), are also available to students who satisfy credit criteria. Loan limits equal cost of education minus other aid. International students must have a credit-worthy U.S. citizen co-signer to be considered for this loan. Visit www.salliemae.com/mbaloans for more information.

Loan Deferment
If you wish to defer a previous loan, you should contact your lender for a deferment form if not sent one automatically. The form should be completed and submitted to the Registrar’s Office, located in the basement of Gibson Hall (Room 110). Deferment forms must be processed each semester after registration. For more information, call (504) 865-5231 or fax (504) 865-6760.
