Taming the Dragon: The Ethics of Doing Business in the World of Social Media
Social networking and social media have changed the way we do business. In a media world, where content is king and brands compete for heightened levels of user engagement, businesses are challenged to increase consumer interaction. Technology has evolved ahead of our understanding of the new ethical issues brought about by such an increase in networking and information sharing capabilities. Privacy, improper anonymity, unreported endorsements, lapses in confidentiality, and violations of trust are just a few of the emerging issues. The 2012 Burkenroad symposium brings together experts from a diverse set of backgrounds to tackle the issue of ethics and social media.
