The Job Search

Do's And Don'ts

  1. Relax and act natural. Take three deep breaths before your interview.
  2. Don't ramble.
  3. Listen to the entire question before responding.
  4. Organize your thoughts before you speak.
  5. Have a positive attitude. Send positive verbal and non-verbal messages.
  6. Maintain good eye contact.
  7. Stop talking when you have finished answering a question.
  8. Seize opportunities to highlight how you could add value to the organization.
  9. Don't argue with the interviewer.
  10. Ask questions (take part in the dialogue).
  11. Be honest with your answers.
  12. Be on time.
  13. Have a firm handshake.
  14. Smile.
  15. Look the part. Ask yourself, "Would the person in this position wear this to work?" When in doubt, go towards the conservative.
  16. Have neat hair, clean hands and fingernails.
  17. Don't chew gum.
