Services & Facilities Goldring/Woldenberg Hall is a "virtual computer lab" with over 280 Ethernet connections throughout the building available for notebook computer users. These connections allow students to connect to the Freeman Network as well as to Tulane's online services and the Internet.
Both the main lab on the second floor (Room 201) and a second lab on the first floor (Room 120) have 500-MHz Pentium III multimedia workstations connected to the Freeman Network and the Internet. Room 201 has 50 workstations and Room 120 has 18 workstations. E-mail stations placed throughout the building give students quick access to their mail without having to go to a computer lab. Each classroom has an instructor console with a computer, projection, video, and sound capabilities. Instructors and students use these facilities for lectures and presentations in class. Four classrooms (Rooms 130, 140, 141, and 151) are wired for notebook computer use, with an Ethernet connection and electricity available at every seat. (Read about the Notebook Computer initiative here.) The 8 breakout rooms on the first floor, which are used for group study, also have four Ethernet connections each. Study carrels in the library have a total of 26 Ethernet connections available. And the atrium, a gathering place for socializing as well as study, has a total of 72 Ethernet connections available for notebook computer users. |
