Master of Finance Program in Houston
Admission Requirements
The Houston Admissions Committee evaluates each candidate for the Tulane Master of Finance program in Houston and considers the following key admission criteria:
Application Process
- Applications are reviewed as they are completed.
- Admission decisions are usually made within seven days after review.
- Applicants are notified immediately of admission decisions.
- All application information is strictly confidential.
Application Deadlines
- Tulane's MFIN program has a rolling admissions policy.
- Applicants are encouraged to apply early.
- We would like to receive your application by December 1.
- Applications received after that date are considered only if seats are available.
- Any applications received after the class fills will be considered, but wait-listed.

Professional Experience
Work experience is not required for admission to the MFIN program.
Demonstrated Ability
Strong quantitative skills are required for admission to the MFIN program. The committee considers a candidate's professional background, past academic performance, and the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) results.
Degree Requirements
Official transcripts from the registrar of all colleges and universities attended must be requested by the candidate and sent directly to the Stewart Center of Executive Education. Candidates must have earned an undergraduate degree. Neither a business degree nor specific business courses are required for admission.
General Management Admission Test (GMAT)
Acceptable GMAT test scores are required for admission into the program. GMAT information is available at www.MBA.com. We can retrieve your official scores online within several days of your test date.
Personal Interview
The interview aids the Committee in assessing the candidate's strengths, motivations, personal commitment, and ability to meet the demands of the program. The interview also offers the candidate and opportunity to ask questions and discuss any individual concerns with the program director. We strongly encourage applicants to schedule an interview early in the application process. Recommendations
Two recommendations are required. Recommenders should have knowledge of the applicant and his/her quantitative abilities. Recommendations may be completed online or downloaded from the Web site.
Essays
These essays demonstrate the candidate's ability to express thoughts clearly and effectively, and assist the committee in evaluating the candidate's character, maturity, personal and professional aspirations, and motivations for applying to the Tulane program.
Application Fee
Applicants must submit a non-refundable $100 application fee in the form of a check or money order payable to Tulane University.
Company Support Statement
This statement is only required for candidates seeking financial aid. This statement may be completed by the candidate and indicates the level of company support, if any, that will be provided.
