Russian LNG Delegation/SABIT
On August 21, 2006, Tulane University's Entergy-Tulane Energy Institute, in conjunction with the LSU Energy Center, Louisiana Economic Development, and the U.S. Department of Commerce/SABIT hosteda one day session designed to present Louisiana's activities and capabilities in the Natural Gas and LNG markets to a group of 18 senior level managers from Russia's oil and gas industry. The managers are predominantly from Gasprom and its affiliates. Gasprom is Russia's principal oil and gas company and is the largest gas company in the world. Gaxprom has just announced the creation of a North American subsidiary to handle the export of Russian gas to North American markets.
Presentations by academic and regulatory managers from both the State and Federal levels were made to the group as well as engineering companies and terminal developers active in the sector.
The group journeyed to Morgan City and Lafayette for site tours, followed by a visit to the Lake Charles LNG terminal.
