Energy Specialization is a unique program that provides a
combination of experiential learning with seasoned-industry faculty
in a state-of-the-art facility to maximize a student's exposure to this
exciting industry sector.
A specialization in energy is available to students in Bachelor of
Science in Management (BSM), Master of Accounting (MACCT), Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs, and Master of Finance (MFIN).
Undergraduates (BSM)
With the approval of the Tulane Energy Institute
Faculty Committee and the BSM Curriculum
Committee, a student in the Bachelor of Science
in Management program may receive an Energy
Specialization by completing at least nine (9)
semester credit hours of energy-related
course work.
With the approval of the Tulane Energy Institute
Faculty Committee, a student in the graduate
program may receive an Energy Specialization by
completing at least nine (9) semester credit hours
of energy-related course work.
The Freeman School offers an MBA/MNRG joint degree program.
A student must be admitted to both programs. The joint degree
program requires a minimum of 73 total semester credit hours, 49
for the MBA and 24 for the MNRG. Each student's curriculum and
course requirements must be approved in advance by an advisor in
the Freeman School's Graduate Programs Office.

Additional Requirements:
Students are required to serve as a financial analyst for an energy company in the graduate in the
Burkenroad Reports portfolio. Burkenroad Reports covers approximately 25 small- to mid cap energy companies.
Students must focus on the energy sector. Participation in this course is by invitation only by
the finance faculty and is based on academic performance.
Students should submit any requests for waivers or deviations from these requirements in writing, addressed to "Energy Institute Faculty" at the Tulane Energy Institute, Mezzanin Level, Goldring/Woldenberg Hall II.

Additional Requirements:
Students must satisfy the necessary prerequisites for each course. Any student who does not
meet the prerequisites listed for a course must have prior instructor approval before enrolling
in a course. A non-credit seminar (ENRG 6010: Introduction to Energy Fundamentals or
ENRG 7100) is required for all of the other ENRG courses. ENRG 6010 will be offered at the
beginning of the fall and spring semesters. This seminar involves two full days of classroom
time.
Students should consult with the Tulane Energy Institute faculty regarding what courses might
be most appropriate for their career goals. Course syllabi for all courses are on the Tulane
Energy Institute website. Students should contact the faculty member teaching a course with
questions regarding course content.
Any substitutions or waivers must be approved in advance by the Tulane Energy Institute
Executive Director.
