Tulane Energy Club (TEC)

The Tulane Energy Club is a student-led organization that seeks to enhance professional opportunities for students who are interested in the field of energy. In conjunction with the Tulane Energy Institute, the Tulane Energy Club fufills this mission by coordinating activities that expand the knowledge, experience and professional networks of its members. Club Activities

Distinguished Speaker Series
TEC brings in leaders from across the energy industry in order to educate our members on issues of particular importance and keep them up to date with trends and emerging opportunities in the energy industry.

Field Trips

TEC coordinates a variety of field trips that enable members to gain an in-depth understanding of key energy sectors and the operations of specific companies.

Recent field trips include:

  • Howard Weil Annual Energy Conference - attended a conference held by a local energy investment bank
  • Hornbeck Centerline - invited to visit the unveiling of Hornbeck's largest offshore service vessel
  • Chalmette Refining - toured an Exxon/PDVSA crude oil refinery
  • Oceaneering International - toured the company's Remotely Operated Vehicle manufacturing facility
  • Tulane University Power Plant - toured the university's cogeneration power plant

 

Social Events

TEC sponsors social events throughout the year in order to encourage members to develop relationships with alumni and peers working in the energy industry.

Recent social events include:

  • Young Professionals in Energy Social at The Bridge Lounge
  • 1st Annual TEC Crawfish Boil at The Fly in Audubon Park

 

Commodities Trading Competition
In November 2009, TEC will host the 1st Annual Tulane University Commodities Trading Competition where teams of students from universities across the country will compete against one another in a simulated trading competition at the A. B. Freeman School of Business' state-of-the-art trading room.
