Hurricane Gustav swept through the New Orleans area on Sept. 1, but New Orleans-and the Freeman School-were spared the worst. According to Associate Dean Jerry Hagebusch, more than 30 windows in the Goldring/Woldenberg Hall complex were damaged, but none of the reinforced storm windows blew out, preventing potentially catastrophic water damage. Crews were on the ground cleaning up in hours, and the Freeman School--a few broken windows notwithstanding--was back open for business in less than a week.
