Admission Process


The following qualifications are required of prospective participants.
  • Four years academic experience.
  • Teaching or work experience in the areas of concentration or related field.
  • A master's degree in area of concentration or related field.
  • Good teaching evaluations by students and a good evaluation by their director.
  • Nomination by the administration of the school.


For faculty who meet the above qualifications, the following documents must be submitted to Tulane University to complete the application process:
  • A complete application form is by October 15, 1998.
  • A letter of recommendation from the Dean of the Faculty.
  • Official transcripts of the most recently received degree.
  • A statement of career objectives, written in English, not to exceed 500 words.
  • Score on the TOEFL exam or a degree from recognized university in the United States or other English speaking country (to be submitted during provisional admission period).
  • Scores on the GMAT or GRE (to be submitted during provisional admission period).
  • A $35.00 application fee.

Provisional admission during the first year of the program may be granted to participants who have not completed all of the Tulane University application requirements. This period allows faculty to pursue doctoral level coursework for development purposes without a commitment to complete the full PhD program. Full admission to the program will be considered for those faculty interested in continuing the program at the end of the first year by the program's administrative committee. This evaluation will be based on the participant's performance during the first year of the program and the successful completion of other admission requirements.
