Turchin Library

Databases

The following databases are licensed for academic research purposes by current Tulane faculty, students, and staff only.

If connecting from a remote site, use your Tulane mail account ID (w/o the @tulane.edu part) and password when prompted. Report database technical problems to turchin@tulane.edu or the Turchin Library Services desk at 504-865-5311.

ABI/Inform (Proquest)
Indexes 3,000 academic journals, business magazines, and newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal. Entire database can be searched a number of ways, including by subject, article title, author, keywords, date range, and periodical title.

Bloomberg Academic
Current and historical financial information on individual equities, stock market indices, fixed-income securities, currencies, commodities, and futures for both international and domestic markets.
Access is available to current A.B. Freeman students and faculty via two dedicated terminals in the Turchin Library.  Reserve Bloomberg terminals @ http://www.freeman.tulane.edu/lib-tech/turchin/bloomberg.php

Business & Company Resource Center
A Thompson/Gale product, this database provides company and industry information, including industry surveys and market share analysis. Also includes links to associations.

Business Plans
A collection of actual business plans in many different areas.

Business Source Complete
Comprehensive index and abstracting of 3,800 journals, magazines, and other publications, 3,000 of which are available in full text. Entire database can be searched a number of ways, including by subject, article title, author, keywords, date range, and periodical title. Includes many core scholarly publications in the fields of marketing, management, accounting, finance, MIS, and international business.

Comperio (PWC)
Content covers the FASB, EITF, AICPA, IASB, IFAC, PCAOB, SEC, FASAB and GASB, as well as the requirements of eight key countries from around the world. Plus, we've added the FASB's new Accounting Standards Codification, which was launched in July 2009 as the single source of authoritative US accounting standards.
Note:  Must be used with Internet Explorer 7.0 or below only ; library use only ; ask Librarian for assistance with login.

The Conference Board
Access to full-text Research Reports, Business cycle Indicators, Consumer Confidence and latest economic indicators from the Conference Board.

Country Watch
Information and news on the countries of the world, and for the public and private sector organizations with global operations and interests.

Datastream
Provides historical time series data for a variety of securities and markets worldwide.  Use Datastream to find historical equity, index, commodity, currency, ond, futures, options, economic data, etc.  The Excel add-on allows researchers to download data on multiple securities simultaneously.  Access is available to current A.B. Dissertation Abstracts & Digital Dissertations
Full-text of dissertations after 1997, citations and/or abstracts prior to 1997.

EconLit
Indexes and abstracts economic periodical literature.

Economist Intelligence Unit: Country Reports
Analysis of political and economic trends for almost 200 countries . See also the the EIU Viewswire for country-specific forecasts and risk assessments.

Edgar
SEC filings including 10K's, 10Q's, and proxy statements.

Emerald Journals

A powerful business research tool that provides critical information when it is most needed.  Users have instant access to over 35,000 full-text articles from Emerald's international management portfolio, complete with full-text archives back to 1994.  Subject coverage spans a spectrum of management disciplines including: strategy, leadership, marketing and human resource management, plus a substantial number of engineering, applied science, and technology titles.

eStatement Studies: Financial Ratio Benchmark Data
Composite industry financial ratios, taken from annual statements. Guide to locating industry ratios using eStatement Studies.

Factiva.Com 
Full-text coverage of 6,000 newspapers, periodicals, and other sources of business and general news compiled by Dow-Jones and Reuters. Searchable by key words.

Fed-in-Print
Index to publications from the Federal Reserve Banks, including some full text links.

Going Global
Includes job and internship postings, updated daily, for all countries, as well as country guides and an employer directory.

Google Scholar
Search for scholarly articles using Google search strategies.  Guide to configuring Google Scholar to connect to Tulane's eJournal List.

Inside Career Info
Provides inside information regarding jobs.

JSTOR
Full text and image, core journals in social studies and humanities. Adobe (.pdf) format.

Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe
Provides access to a wide range of news, business, legal, and reference information.

Market Research Library
Includes Country Commercial Guides and Market Research Reports from the U.S. Commercial Service. (formerly part of STAT-USA.)

Directory of US businesses.

Regional Business News
Full text articles from regional business journals, newspapers, and news wires.

Social Sciences Citation Index/Web of Science 
Primarily used to track article citations to journal articles, books, essays, and other academic publications.

Standard and Poor's Net Advantage
Includes industry surveys, stock and mutual fund reports, corporation reports, dividends, and earnings. Extensive textual analysis of 52 industries, updated twice a year.

Statistical Universe
Select Index to government and private statistical sources, combining parts of the American Statistical Index and Statistical Reference Index .

Thomson One Banker
Financial information and analysis on domestic & international companies. Includes SEC historical filings which export into Excel. Full text brokerage reports on companies and industries under "Research".  Note:  Must be used with Internet Explorer.

ValueLine 
Company snapshots and ratings. Includes the traditional Value Line reports in .pdf format.

Vault.com
Career, industry , and company guides.  Note: Users will be asked to create an ID/password once into the Vault.com website.

Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS)
Web-based business data research service from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Developed in 1993 to support faculty research at Wharton, the service has evolved to become a common tool for research for over 250 institutions around the world. Graduate students and Faculty are eligible for individual accounts.
