News New CMC director hopes to continue growth A veteran business executive with wide-ranging experience is the new director of the Career Management Center.
As director of the Career Management Center, Hughes says his priority will be to increase the number of high-quality career contacts available through the center. “The Career Management Center has to be focused on placing graduates in the best position possible to start their careers,” Hughes says. “It’s not just a question of bringing a lot of people on campus and generating a lot of activity. That’s good and that helps, but the way we’re going to excel is by the excellence of the people that we bring to campus and by the excellence of the corporations at which we’re placing our students.” Alumni contacts, Hughes says, are still the single greatest resource the Career Management Center can offer students. “The most important message to alumni is that we need their help in placing students,” Hughes says. “We need people who are serious about recruiting, who really want to make an effort and help us get students placed. We can help them do it. They just need to tell us.” Alumni interested in assisting the CMC in placing graduates and interns at their companies or in mentoring current students can contact the center at 504-865-5417 or email careers@tulane.edu. |
