Tulane University plays a major role in the city of New Orleans. The medical complex is home to Tulane Medical Center. The 114 acre uptown campus is one of the City's more dominating architectural features, and is home to approximately 11,000 students. The university is surrounded by residential communities.
New Orleans has been named as one of the top 15 arts destinations in the country by American Style magazine. This ranking is based on the number, quality and variety of arts offered in a city and by the number of visitors attracted for that reason.
Louisiana leads the nation in crude oil production and ranks second in natural gas production. This state produces a quarter of the nation's crude oil and a third of its natural gas. Reason enough that Tulane's energy specialization is so popular.
