Experiential Learning

Real-world experience with measured results distinguishes Tulane MFIN alumni from mere college graduates. Our experiential programs go beyond mere simulation; they provide resume-worthy experience that is recognized by employers and recruiters.

  • Freeman Reports: Value an energy firm from the ground up in order to create a sell-side analyst report, which you'll present to your client along with your final recommendations.
  • Darwin Fenner Student-Managed Fund: Manage a mid- or small-cap equity portfolio, part of a $3.25 million dollar endowment fund. Both portfolios have consistently outperformed their respective S&P benchmark portfolios on a risk-adjusted basis.
  • 24-Hour Bloomberg Lab: Earn a Bloomberg specialization certificate at our state-of-the-art lab, or simply take advantage of the industry-standard technology to enhance your coursework.
  • Relevant, Hands-On Coursework: Learn to solve finance problems from a practical perspective by analyzing cases, completing group projects, and building financial models.
  • Industry-Specific Experience: Delve deeper into specific industries with elective courses in our two areas of expertise: Energy and Banking and Financial Services.

Easing the Transistion

"Freeman Reports is designed to teach students how to produce sell-side analyst reports. The skills taught in this course are absolutely essential to producing the highest level finance professional. Freeman Finance faculty created the core Freeman Reports course to provide every Tulane MFIN the opportunity to experience life as a sell-side analyst. The ultimate goal is to create a financial model for an assigned company and to prepare a professional-grade equity research report."
