Greg R. Oldham
Greg R. Oldham is the J. F., Jr. and Jesse Lee Seinsheimer Chair in Business in the A. B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University. Prior to coming to Tulane, Professor Oldham was C. Clinton Spivey Distinguished Professor of Business Administration, Professor of Labor and Industrial Relations, and Associate Dean of Faculty in the College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Yale University.
Professor Oldham's research focuses on the contextual and personal conditions that prompt the creativity of individuals and teams in organizations. He has also conducted numerous studies on the effects of the design of work and work environments on employees' effectiveness and psychological well-being. Professor Oldham's research on these topics has appeared in many of the leading journals in the fields of organizational behavior and management including, Academy of Management Journal (AMJ), Journal of Applied Psychology (JAP), Organizational Behavior Human Decision Processes (OBHDP), Administrative Science Quarterly (ASQ), and Journal of Management (JOM). In addition, he has published a book about his research entitled Work Redesign, which is co-authored with Richard Hackman.
Professor Oldham is a Fellow of the Academy of Management, Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology, and the American Psychological Association. He is a former President of the Academy of Management and a former Chair of the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy. He also serves, or has served, on the Editorial Boards of a number of journals including, OBHDP, JAP, JOM, and AMJ. Finally, Professor Oldham received the 2004 Distinguished Educator Award from the Academy of Management for his work in developing doctoral students.
