Originally from Long Island, New York, Shirley Sonesh graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Brandeis University in the Spring of 2007. She is currently a second year doctoral student and has a variety of different research interests mainly in the areas of social network centrality and power dynamics in the workplace. Shirley has recently coauthored a chapter with the Dean of Tulane Business School, Angelo DeNisi, on performance management systems for the APA handbook of Organizational Behavior. Currently, she is working with Mike Burke on a meta-analysis on the effects of organizational health and safety interventions. In the past, Shirley has researched and presented on personality assessment selection tools as well as Performance management benefits for an internet software company, CosmoCom Inc. As a second year student, Shirley is not only immersed in the Ph.D. program but is also involved in the New Orleans Community. She is a member of the young leadership council which is a non-profit that encourages various volunteer projects throughout New Orleans, and hopes to integrate her research with some of these initiatives.
