Students Services

Freeman students can take advantage of the Freeman Writing Center's services by signing up for individual or group sessions with an instructor. Our instructors conduct appointments in the Writing Center. During busy times of the semester, we ask that students sign up for no more than one weekly appointment for each assignment. Appointment sheets are posted in advance on a clipboard on the bulletin board outside the Writing Center (GWI 220).

Please click on the links to the left for more information on General Office Hours.

General Office Hours

If you are enrolled in any business school class, you may sign up on the General Office Hours sheet on the clipboards outside Room 220 to work with an available instructor. We welcome walk-ins and do not require draft submissions except for LGST 3010 students who work with designated writing instructors and legal coaches. The general office hours of the Writing Center are 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Our last seen appointment begins at 4:30pm.

Please Note: To keep an appointment, please be prompt, let the writing instructor know that you have arrived, and be ready to discuss your work. If you must cancel your appointment for any reason, please call 504-862-8377 or cross your name off the sign-up sheet in advance as a courtesy to fellow students.

MCOM, PCOM, and Perspectives Classes

A specific instructor is assigned to work with individual MCOM 634 and PCOM 634 sections. If you are in one of those classes, please make an appointment by writing your name and phone number in an empty slot on your assigned instructor's sign-up sheet outside the MCC.

For MCOM 634 and PCOM 634, we require students to turn in a draft the day before their appointments; mailboxes for this purpose are located inside Room 240. Please put your draft in your assigned instructor's mailbox by 4:00 p.m. on the day before your appointment.

If you do not turn in a draft the day before your appointment, you have canceled that appointment. You can also cancel an appointment by notifying us or by crossing your name off the sign-up sheet.
